What is Raw Selvage Denim?
Only the best denim on the planet! To simply put it, it’s stronger and more durable than your average denim because it’s made on special shuttle looms with a continuous thread. It’s the way denim used to be made in the good ol’ days. It’s also unwashed, and Sanforized (to minimize shrinkage). In short – pristine. Wearing raw denim gives you the ability to break them in to your body type and lifestyle. They will stretch in the right places, fade in the right places and look great all the while. If you’d like to read more about raw selvage denim, visit our Denim 101 page.
Where do you get your Denim?
We get all of our denim from Cone Mills White Oak. A great company based in North Carolina.
Where are your jeans made?
All our jeans are made by hand in our Cincinnati, Ohio workshop. We use all American made materials, from the denim and thread all the way to our custom rivets and leather.
How long will it take to receive my order?
That’s the million dollar question. Firstly, we try our best to fulfill orders in a timely fashion, and will do our best to communicate with you along the way. That said, we have very high quality standards - and each pair is handmade for you. We make great jeans, not necessarily fast jeans. Check out the “availability” note below each of our denim products in the shop to get an accurate estimate. For more info on WHY, please read about our Batch System.
What is your ‘Batch System’ all about and how will it affect my order?
In the spirit of making the best jeans we possibly can, we will be making our jeans in small batches (hence the name: Small Batch Jeans). Each batch will have a finite number of jeans — a number established by our manufacturing ability. We will sell up to this specific number, then we will close the batch until we have them all built, boxed and shipped. At which time, we’ll open up the next batch. If you would like a pair, and miss the current batch, don’t sweat. You can sign up to be notified when the next batch will be available, giving you a sporting chance to make it to the shop at just the right time. Feel free to sign up to our Next Batch Wait List for this notification. We should mention that by getting on the wait list, it doesn’t ensure that you’ll get a pair — that all depends on you going to our shop in a timely fashion when the batch becomes available.
Are there any differences in your jeans from batch to batch?
Yes! But nothing major. What you see in the pictures will be a very close representation to every batch. There may be slight changes in the hardware or stitching. The color of the leather patch may also vary due to its reclaimed nature. We will also change the screen print design on the pocket bag (only visible when the jeans are off). We enjoy nurturing relationships with other artists and folks who appeal to us creatively. This is our opportunity to provide a collaborative canvas for those folks. We will alter this design from time to time and we hope you enjoy the variety. The fit will not be changed from batch to batch.
What is your return policy?
In a nutshell - we have a 30 day return policy, as long as the item is in new and unused condition. You can read more about it on our page dedicated to the nuts and bolts of returns and exchanges.
I cut my jeans by opening the box with a machete, can you do anything for me?
Sorry, we can’t. Be sure to open your package with care. We do our best to communicate that info on the box itself, but sadly, we can’t account for hasty individuals.
Do you make custom sizes?
Indeed we do. We charge a fixed $500 bench fee which includes developing a pattern for your custom size and your pair of jeans. Then, down the road, if you would like another pair, you would only be charged the normal price (we would use your custom patterns that we would keep on file).
Do you do custom tailoring?
Not yet. But we hope to someday! In the meantime, we can recommend some top notch tailors in Cincinnati. But you might also have good luck looking on the interwebs.
Can I visit the workshop to try on a pair of jeans or get a tour?
Absolutely! We welcome visitors to our Cincinnati workshop. Give us a call so we know to expect you: 513.560.5640. Or just send us a tweet! You can also try on our jeans at the shops around the country that carry our jeans. Visit our Stockists page to learn more.
What stores carry your jeans?
Right now, our jeans are carried at a few top notch boutiques around the country. You can view the options on our Stockists page. If you’re a shop and you’d like to carry our jeans, just send us an email.
Do you do repairs?
We build our jeans to last, out of top quality materials. That said, sometimes things happen and your jeans can become damaged. When those situations arise, we recommend you visit your local tailor. We are currently so swamped with orders that we don’t have the manpower to dedicate to regular repairs. However, if your jeans have a flaw or fail in the first month, by all means send them back and we’ll get you a new pair - for more on this, check out our return policy.
How do I care for my new jeans?
Great question. We’ve got you covered. Check out our denim 101 page for some helpful facts about breaking in your pair as well as our washing Instructions page. If any other questions arise, just send us a note on our contact page.
When should I wash my jeans for the first time?
Ideally, not until after 6 months. But you can get the full scoop by checking out our Washing Instructions and Denim 101 pages.
