Sing-A-Long

Since the cold has befallen Ohio, I was feeling sentimental and began to pull out some of my favorite Christmas records… Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole and other crooner favs. But a consistent contemporary mainstay has been the indie crazy person Sufjan Stevens. He’s done a handful of Christmas albums (Hark! Songs of Christmas part 1-2 & Silver and Gold) and recently announced a Christmas Sing-A-Long tour… coming to Ohio in December and the rest of the country in… well, December. The dude puts on a great show and I don’t doubt this would be a killer concert to attend. If you’re not familiar with Sufjan’s Xmas tunes… they are organic, soft, emotive and timeless. He uses all his favorite “50 states” voices (woodwinds, banjo, piano, acoustics) and puts a new twist on most classics, as well as introducing some you may not have heard since you were a kid. Keep the tours & butterfly wings coming Sufjan.

Saturday was fun. All the folks of Noble Denim met up for the first time in one room for a group pic. Adam brought some of his killer Deeper Roots coffee for everyone, and we sipped them in the 80 year old cups he provided — He said his grandmother bought them from the company store in a coal town way back when. It was delightful.

Our new friend Patrick put on the first store-ready pairs of our Truman Regular and Earnest Slim cuts and let us take some pictures. A big thanks to all those folks for helping us out. We’re all stoked about the 1st batch.

Paul’s Dad

Came across this gem that I’ve been enjoying: Paul McCartney’s ‘Kisses on the Bottom’. Its a collection of rehashed jazz and swing tunes that Mr. McCartney’s father used to love. I guess the old Beatle was feeling nostalgic. Regardless, the album is very endearing and perfect for early morning drives.
